As a result of my "Dozen Photo Challenge" experience, I have shared my favorite image I took as well as some perspective on my overall participation in this project. Please feel free to add a comment providing some feedback for me below!
MY FAVORITE IMAGE:

ABOUT MY IMAGE:
I think this is my most successful image because it brings together several photographic techniques we learned in class in a way that actually feels intentional and creative. I used a low perspective to make the flower the main focus and the darker lighting helped bring out the texture of the petals and leaves. The cool, bluish tone of the whole photo creates a kind of calm mood, and I liked how the monochromatic color scheme adds to that. I also paid attention to the background, keeping the house out of focus so the flower really stands out.
CHALLENGES:
The most challenging part of this assignment was getting the camera to focus where I wanted, especially when I was trying to shoot from more unusual angles or trying to shoot the camera from up close. I ran into issues where the focus would land on the background or the wrong part of the subject, which was frustrating. It took a lot of trial and error to get sharp images that still had a blurred background and followed the techniques we were supposed to use.
IN THE FUTURE:
In the future, I want to get more comfortable with manually adjusting focus, especially when shooting up close or from more extreme angles. I also plan to experiment more with different locations instead of sticking to the same background, so I can see how setting changes the overall vibe of the photos. On top of that, I want to keep playing with lighting styles, picture taking techniques, and color theory to help develop a sense of style in my photography.
COMMENT ON ANOTHER STUDENT'S BLOG:
"Hi Mia! I really love these two images, and I appreciate that you included both in your post because they share a similar theme, with matching lighting, bright colors, and a nice rock feature. But while they are similar, they are obviously both very different, which I appreciate as well, since it shows your complexity in your photography talent. The first one caught my attention right away because of how you used the puddle almost as a mirror, which is a method that I really like and was something that I tried as well. The second photo feels more ambient and calm, and I think that the person looking out over the water at the sunset really helps create that mood. The lighting in the second photo is especially nice and it gives a very warm and cozy feel. One thing you might consider trying next time is playing around with depth of field a little bit more, as I think it could be interesting to see how blurring out the background might help focus more on the subject. I think it’s awesome that you shot these on your phone, it just goes to show that you don’t need super expensive gear to create art. Nice work!"

This is a really nice photo. The soft light makes the flower look smooth and calm. The purple color stands out against the cool blue background, which looks really pretty. There aren’t any harsh shadows, so you can see the details in the petals and leaves. The lighting helps the photo feel peaceful and gentle. Great use of diffused light!
Hi Jordyn, I was drawn to this image due to the analogous cool colors mixed with a low perspective approach. I think photographing these flowers like this in a low light environment creates a sense of mystery. I think the close up of the flowers with a blurred background of the house makes for a photograph with good depth. I think the soft focus is also nice for this image since it is calm and mysterious. I like the amount of saturation used and how soft the image is. The exposure, contrast, and color saturation all work for the image. The only thing I can think of doing differently for this image is possibly using a filter on the image…

Hi Jordyn! I really love this image and your explanation behind it, as well as how intentional your choices were with lighting, perspective, and depth of field. The cool blue tone gives the photo such a calming, dreamy feel, and I think the worm's-eye view, low angle was a great way to make the flower feel more bold. I love how you kept the background blurred so the flower could stand out even more and it was such a smart use of focus. I also relate to your challenge with getting the camera to focus on the right spot. It can be so tricky, especially with close-up shots. One thing you might consider trying next time is adjusting the…
