REFLECTION:

I think this is my most successful image because the composition and lighting really make the subject of the colorful plate stand out. The natural light reflecting off the water creates a peaceful mood, and the way the hands frame the plate makes the image feel intentional and balanced. This image feels relaxing but luxury, and looking at it makes me feel like I am on vacation, which is something that I really like about this particular image.

The most challenging part of this assignment for me was getting the lighting right without overexposing the background. I also struggled a bit with finding the right angle to keep the subjects clear while still including some of the environment in order to set the scene, and I really had to play around with placements and angles.

In future assignments, I plan to experiment more with angles and lighting conditions. I also want to push myself to shoot in more dynamic environments instead of relying on very stand-still subjects.

COMMENT ON A CLASSMATE'S BLOG:

"Hi Abigail! I really love the message behind your ethically evaluative photo. The contrast between “Eat Less” and “Love Yourself More” is so powerful, and the side-by-side layout makes the emotional impact even stronger. It’s such a clear example of how photography, no matter how simple or intricate the picture or message is, can very strongly challenge harmful narratives and promote powerful emotions like positivity and self-love. Great job!"
